Shuttle, our Favorite Word

Image
oh yeah, not just a shuttle an extremely comfortable huge touring bus to Lake Louise and then onto Lake Maraine. Today the morning was 40° but warmed up to be the most beautiful clear  day we’ve had so far in Canada.  Like Moraine is not as big as like Louise but equally gorgeous. We hiked the lake loop at a leisurely pace. played a couple games of backgammon, enjoying the scenery along the way. Stopping To eat our PB&J‘s and relish our homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies😋.  When we got back from our very pleasant day, walking around the campground to the bow river noticed all the motorhomes were plugged in. I had asked John before and he said oh they’re generator but these were motorhomes, so I did a little investigating and yes, of course we have electricity. We didn’t know so we froze last night. We could’ve run our portable heater ( our heater to our motorhome is broken.) We could only fix one part and chose air-conditioning😬 After dinner ride along the bow...

The wild ride to Lake Louise

Image
This is a hoping place. We are one of these miles of motorhomes. Thats ok our shuttle isn’t until tomorrow we will just ride our bikes to Lake Louise.  Mostly shuttles and buses so the road was mostly empty except when it wasn’t.   About a 40 min ride then the narrow bridge so we took a side trail ( when will we ever learn) uphill is an understatement..but the good news is that it ended at the Lake Louise parking lot! The skies were clearer than they have been for days. This water is so turquoise it is unbelievable. Taking a picture without a tourist is impossible. 🤪 We saw only one bird, and lots of very hungry chipmunks trying to eat our lunch! These are some brave folks, the walls are straight up.  Lots of other brave folks paying $2300 a night to stay at the Chateau 💰 Low and behold an actual bike trail back down to the visitor center😬 Well, we made it back to camp, but it was too cold  and too tired last night to take a picture of the campground and it was ...

Shh don’t tell anyone about Johnston Falls

Image
Johnston Falls Alberta Canada. Fortunately we left camp early and got one of the last parking spots at 8 am. Thousands hike this trail every day.  It must be something, we will see.  Suspended board walks over the river.  About a 20 minute wait in line to see around the corner a view of the actual waterfall.  Crazy.. it was like waiting for splash mountain 💦 Wild life today… Canadian Crows!  Oatmeal, no oatmeal cookie dough, 2 small batches so no dishes, the butter was hard m, it is barely 60 degrees 🥶 Moose Meadow, no moose, nice meadow.  Protection Mtn campground, a little rustic but nice big sites with beautiful mtn view. Separate bear recycle container. John reports warm flush restrooms.  No alcohol or  cannibis allowed😳 we did hear a rather large party late into the night, guess they didn’t see the sign!  Cute little baby birds peeking out. Nice walk after dinner, waiting for dark at 9:30 so we can go to bed💤
