Handmade Furniture Museum and John’s Mistress

Yes, that would be a red light!!!!  😳Whew, you made through, good thing no one was coming.these are really weird lights, it takes a village to drive an RV.

 Thank You Jesus, we made it.  Calvary Chapel New Braunfels TX.  That’s the church behind us they share a building with CYT, Christian Youth Theatre. Nice folks great sermon; the one about the 4 friends helping a crippled man see Jesus.  That’s what friends are for 💕

Beautiful handmade furniture, Biedermeier style, no hinges so no noise when they open and shut.  
These artifacts are from the first German immigarants, including the famous Tischlermeisters (master carpenters) Heinrich Scholl Jr and Johann Michael Jahn. 

John’s Mistress...actually Captain Cooks, on his South Pacific explorations he took his “mistress” to keep him company.  Fellow shipboard scientists Sir Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander engaged him in the game sometimes ending with a “two-fisted resolution”......Connect Four our new game.  
 



We stayed here 2 nights..11 acres all to ourselves..they left us the remote to the gate so we could come and go.  Us and the deer.  

Just 2 miles from the Museum a little town called Greene (pronounced Green).  It is little but lots of people come for the pretend antique stores (we actually saw one really huge good antique shop, all others sold new and or crafty items).  Rafting is also big (more on that tomorrow).


 
Cotton eyed Joe’s, thought it was a bar...not, clothing, but give them credit for a cute name.  Love the use of the old license plates...maybe giving you some decorating ideas.  Richard...all those license plates you have in the barn.....uh huh.

Hey George, stopped by your house yesterday....sorry we missed you!
Gruene Dance Hall, where George Strait got his big Break.  Lots of famous people have played here, sometimes they just stop by, so ya never know.

 
We saw Phil Hurley and the Lost Pines...did some 2 stepping.  John wanted ribs, they sold no food at the Dance Hall and everything was closed by 9, the bar next door was open!  John had pulled pork nachos...I had ice cream!!!  The good news is that we did not get a gift from the City of Greene on our motorhome for parking in the event center.

 Day One…first, it has been yearsss since writing a blog and using this site,  Already there is a pencil icon in my way of typing, what is up with that!!! Does it really matter

 Really, I am not going to change it or try and fix it, that would require sending another link and confusing everyone especially me!  So the name of the Blog was suppose to be “Heads Carolina, tails California and then you have a title for each post.  Well I wondered where the “one mile at a time aka you never know when you’ll breakdown”came from.  Apparently I opened up an existing blog and just added to it,  well, that title could be any of our trips so it is staying!  Now I am really going to bed, we plan on leaving around 8 am tomorrow Monday March 9.  I downloaded the APP so I hope that helps, I see I am having difficulty with picture placement…by the end of August I should have it down! Did someone say Friday the 13th?

​where to start…  Gas buddy directed us to a gas station in Abilene, Texas that was $3.15 a gallon just off the freeway and there was a Walmart perfect! We need yogurt creamer, and M&Ms💕 it all seemed perfect, especially when we saw the Brahms ice cream store over the hood of this guy‘s truck,(for those of you not familiar with Brahms ice cream, It is the best but it’s only in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and may be a handful of othet state states.) then we noticed the sign that they were out of unleaded gas🥲 we went in anyways and got our three items in a store that we don’t think anyone looked happy glad to be out and over to Brahms John got a sundae I didn’t feel like ice cream I got a fry. It was OK. GasBuddy leads us to another gas station for $3.49 it was supposed to be $3.19 and everywhere else in Abilene is 3.19. we’re in a motorhome at 7 miles a gallon a few blocks we find the $3.15  gas, perfect!
