I’ll have the Air Museum/River Walk Combo



Wednesday April 21.  The Air Museum was really cool, they had early flying machines and The history of aviation.   Lots of memorabilia honoring hero’s of the various wars the US was involved in.

Still in progress a model train from the ‘60’s era.  John loved this as he is a fellow engineer, his train set is in his office, not part of the house decor yet.

 

Loved seeing the uniforms, they had all the women’s uniforms too.  My mom was a WAC..her daughter a wac co too.  

 
The speech JFK gave the day before he was assassinated.  


Best of all, a place to stay, love the Harvest Host program.

 
The museum closed at 4...it does not get dark until 8:15...what shall we do????   I got my nails done, we went grocery shopping and to “Spin City”.  I am a fun date; John thinks all this gets done by osmosis😂

The San Antonio River Walk is 15 miles long and flows through 5 miles of downtown San Antonio.  Shops, restaurants, Museums, Taverns, and live Theatre line the river.

Like a kid in a candy store.  John’s favorite, candy 🍏’s. This is Kilwin’s very yummy homemade chocolates, ice cream and Candy apples.  Just 2 doors down was Francesco’s Gelato, we highly recommend the Gelato.  Oh yeah we were doing a taste test of various ice cream parlors in the area.  Upon doing the research we found our propensity to Gelato’s creamy texture was because it has less fat. So it is good for you!  We also found out where the most expensive ice cream is..you guessed it, Dubai.  It is at the Scoopi Cafe and it is called “Black Diamond”. Only $817.  What?  They have sold 2 scoops.  We proceeded to the Blue Bell parlor...but sadly we were full.  Next time. 🤢


 
You can’t go to San Antonio without visiting the Alamo! You can’t go with John and not visit the Alamo.

 
More wildlife on the River Walk.  Everyone is having babies...we are waiting patiently for our call.
 
The Alamo did have beautiful grounds..the biggest oak tree we have ever seen, bigger than any at Balboa Park.  Of course we like the Koi’s.

 Day One…first, it has been yearsss since writing a blog and using this site,  Already there is a pencil icon in my way of typing, what is up with that!!! Does it really matter

 Really, I am not going to change it or try and fix it, that would require sending another link and confusing everyone especially me!  So the name of the Blog was suppose to be “Heads Carolina, tails California and then you have a title for each post.  Well I wondered where the “one mile at a time aka you never know when you’ll breakdown”came from.  Apparently I opened up an existing blog and just added to it,  well, that title could be any of our trips so it is staying!  Now I am really going to bed, we plan on leaving around 8 am tomorrow Monday March 9.  I downloaded the APP so I hope that helps, I see I am having difficulty with picture placement…by the end of August I should have it down! Did someone say Friday the 13th?

​where to start…  Gas buddy directed us to a gas station in Abilene, Texas that was $3.15 a gallon just off the freeway and there was a Walmart perfect! We need yogurt creamer, and M&Ms💕 it all seemed perfect, especially when we saw the Brahms ice cream store over the hood of this guy‘s truck,(for those of you not familiar with Brahms ice cream, It is the best but it’s only in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and may be a handful of othet state states.) then we noticed the sign that they were out of unleaded gas🥲 we went in anyways and got our three items in a store that we don’t think anyone looked happy glad to be out and over to Brahms John got a sundae I didn’t feel like ice cream I got a fry. It was OK. GasBuddy leads us to another gas station for $3.49 it was supposed to be $3.19 and everywhere else in Abilene is 3.19. we’re in a motorhome at 7 miles a gallon a few blocks we find the $3.15  gas, perfect!
