Meet me in St Louis after the movie

​Goodbye to KOA and a pickleball loss to John 🥲 headed to St Louis. Leaving Tennessee, driving through Kentucky 


Sky View Drive-In, 2 screens featuring Moana and Toy Story 2 or Odessy.  We really didn’t watch either😬



Canadian Geese- The clean-up crew ! About 6 others spent the night.  We never heard anybody leave and I never got to play on the playground. They even had a merry-go-round. Nice morning I gave John a haircut before we left. 

Lookie there… a Pickleball Court.. just a quick game before The St Louis Arch.. another loss.. whoa is me 🥲


Saturday morning, easy to find parking in downtown St. Louis and short walk to the arch. Fabulous visitor center so interesting. They actually had a contest for different architectural designs for the riverfront Park. Obviously the arch won but there were spheres, monuments, and the like  in the competition. 


The downtown was beautiful and clean unique buildings, financial district thus  the bull and the bear. Shady, walking paths much needed to combat  the high temperatures and humidity.😰

As always, John has to feel any water source we come near and make his  declaration. Today..  I touched the Mississippi!!!

 Day One…first, it has been yearsss since writing a blog and using this site,  Already there is a pencil icon in my way of typing, what is up with that!!! Lynne if your out there I could use some help!!!!  Just as any other Fitzmaurice adventure this one has already begun and we have not left the driveway.  Where do I start, we really wanted to go to Church, the wind, Carson and John catching the motorhome heater on fire, canceling and making 6 new reservations because we are delayed a day and the best reasons, it is the Senior Olympics!!!  Our friends the Rowers host an annual event with our “Adorables” group, (a label given by young people of folks over  60 having dinner in Poway Park ) many events, medals and plenty of competition!  We are going for the GOLD instead of being blown off I-8 .   Oh, so where are we going…to North Carolina taking a few weeks to get there stopping in Savannah and Charleston for a few days and heading to our dau...

Does it really matter

 Really, I am not going to change it or try and fix it, that would require sending another link and confusing everyone especially me!  So the name of the Blog was suppose to be “Heads Carolina, tails California and then you have a title for each post.  Well I wondered where the “one mile at a time aka you never know when you’ll breakdown”came from.  Apparently I opened up an existing blog and just added to it,  well, that title could be any of our trips so it is staying!  Now I am really going to bed, we plan on leaving around 8 am tomorrow Monday March 9.  I downloaded the APP so I hope that helps, I see I am having difficulty with picture placement…by the end of August I should have it down! Did someone say Friday the 13th?

​where to start…  Gas buddy directed us to a gas station in Abilene, Texas that was $3.15 a gallon just off the freeway and there was a Walmart perfect! We need yogurt creamer, and M&Ms💕 it all seemed perfect, especially when we saw the Brahms ice cream store over the hood of this guy‘s truck,(for those of you not familiar with Brahms ice cream, It is the best but it’s only in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and may be a handful of othet state states.) then we noticed the sign that they were out of unleaded gas🥲 we went in anyways and got our three items in a store that we don’t think anyone looked happy glad to be out and over to Brahms John got a sundae I didn’t feel like ice cream I got a fry. It was OK. GasBuddy leads us to another gas station for $3.49 it was supposed to be $3.19 and everywhere else in Abilene is 3.19. we’re in a motorhome at 7 miles a gallon a few blocks we find the $3.15  gas, perfect!
