Where Buffolo Roam and Praire Dogs play.

Custer State Park in South Dakota Center, Lake. We hiked around the lake and watched the vultures.

We got up early in the morning and drove the wildlife loop trail.

There are over 1500 buffalo in this park.

The most beautiful visitor center and so well done. Buffalo meat kept people from starving during the depression and Custer State Park had several conservation core camps for those needing employment.

The older women are in charge of these herds!!! Buffalo eat 32 pounds of grasses a day!

The last Friday of each September, they have the Buffalo round up where they use horses and trucks to round up all of the buffalo and sort out about 500 to sell at auction. The park would be too crowded if they didn’t do this each year. There’s a huge hillside that they allow people to come and watch this spectacle. You can get a buffalo for around $2,000…

Other wildlife in the park are these very friendly Burros, especially if you have food.

There had to be 1 million prairie dogs everywhere you look is a mountain with the fuzzy little fella sitting on top. Very cute.

When we stopped for lunch, we looked up and we were surrounded by Buffalo😳 don’t worry Stephanie sent us a video of that guy getting the head butt from the Buffalo in Yellowstone. We’re staying put inside.
